A-Z Alphabet Journal

The goal of this project was to create a variety of forms using different media in order to appreciate how different letters are created using simple shapes. The journal was completed as a weekly exercise for my type one course.
For some of the letters, collage cut outs were used- for this specific example I used architectural and natural shapes from around the world that signify an O shape.
For the last few letters I decided to used found images from a book on early Christian architecture, and magnetic tape from an old VHS. The result was a stark contrast, especially in the reflection off the tape.
I also used different wet medias with landscape: I painted an e over a watercolor painting of an irish beach; and a  C over a map covering Uganda and other areas.
The end result was a typographic poster, with a combination of unity and variety.
